AdWords

Hi I have just created my first set of adwords on the google advertising programme. For those that dont know adwords are the links that you see down the side of main google page that you see when searching. Its basically a pay per click basis and is supposed to increase the traffic and therefore the productivity of your website.

I thought that I would give it a go after reading quite a bit of information on it and in most cases the results are good. I will let you know how it goes hopefully it will lead to more people getting to www.anthonylewisphotography.co.uk which is what it is all about in the end.

  • Hi Anthony,

Have you noticed an increase in your traffic since using adwords? How much did you spend? I have a photoblog at Fotoviva Photography so if it helps I might try it there!

    Cheers
    Jas.

  • Hi Jas

Yes I believe that have seen an increase in traffic since using starting to use adwords. I am not completely convinced that I have got the whole thing set up crrectly. However atleast the people that are coming to my site now are people that are interested in photography and most importantly buying.

  • Hi there, happy new year.

I have not been using ad words for some time I believe that the only good way to use them is to pay per click. Which means laying out a huge quantity of money with not much reward. Especially with Photography where there are hundreds of thousands of people all trying to do the same thing.

Other people may have better luck but I really did not see it make ny sight any more traffic in the long run.

  • Hi Anthony,

Your experience sounds very familiar..Google makes it sound like all you need is $5 and the money rolls in...unfortunately its a very hands on program and when done daily, it generally produces great results. Were you targeting your local market? which keywords were you using? were you using conversion tracking? If everyone is promoting the same thing..photography..then a free offer to persuade someone to get on your email list may work. You might offer top 5 pics most photographers miss? Art
